Reducing Menstrual Cramps

Dysmenorrhea, or what is commonly known as menstrual cramps, is a medical condition that some women experience every time they have their menstrual period. This condition involves extreme pain in the abdominal area that hampers normal activity by a woman during her period. A woman who experiences this kind of medical problem usually takes some medication such as a pain reliever to reduce the pain she experiences from dysmenorrhea.

But there are other ways aside from taking medications to help in relieving the pain caused by menstrual cramps. Sometimes, frequent intake of medicines can cause some harm to the body or can immune the body from the effects of the medicine. Thus, taking other measures to reduce the pain is wanted to avoid taking medicines frequently. A good way to reduce the pain is by putting a warm compress in the abdominal area when experiencing menstrual cramps. The warm compress is helpful in suppressing the pain that is brought about by this medical condition.

Another way to relieve the pain is by lying down and bending your knees to your chest in such a way that the abdominal area is compressed. This has been proven be effective because the area where there is pain is constricted making your feel less pain that is tolerable.
