Things to talk about
I think everybody has that post in them that is contrary to popular opinion. This one is will be mine. First you have to understand that I'm a conservative. Frankly the government is getting way to big. I do not talk politics for a very good reason. People tend to get down right moronic if you do not agree with them. I get enough of that at work from my geek freinds. However, I have a few things that have just been bothering me lately and they will cross over in the political area. I'll simply put these in a list for the ease and economy of getting my issues across.1. Why are we allowing ILLEGAL immigrants to sway our minds out there? Its simple, if you are doing an Illegal act it is expected that you will be caught sometime and punished. Ive heard several arguments recently that we need to let these ILLEGAL immigrants to draw some kind of stipend because they are poor. I am not a bleeding heart liberal and I do not believe they deserve what could go to Medicare or Medicaid to help our own elderly. They deserve to be deported and then go threw the proper steps necessary to become a US citizen. Like many who have do this before them.
2. I do not think we need more gun control. There are plenty of laws already on the books that deal with gun control. I'm having a hard time with "guns kill" argument. The point I have to make clear is that the gun does not choose to kill, It is a tool in the hands of someone who chooses to kill. Now fully understand something, I do not own a gun. I will not have a gun in my house until I can teach and trust my littleone. I do however believe it is a right, if I so choose, to own one for our protection. I even want to have the ability to conceal the weapon. Do you really think the bad guys are going to not conceal theirs? Do you really think the bad guys are not going to use a gun if they have evil intent on their mind?
With personal opinions like these, I'm having a very hard time with the presidential choices. I would love to hear your opinions on these matters. There are a few more social and political issues that I have, but I want to get them more coherently put together.

I don't politics all that much either for the same reason you listed. I say collect all the illegals and ship em back to their home country. Fuck the ACLU. Makes me very stabby.
As for gun control, I agree, guns do not kill people. Guns don't choose to go out and shoot someone, a person does that by using a gun. While I agree that owning a handgun is definitely our right, even a hunting rifle or two if you're a hunter, I do not think Uzi's or semi automatic weapons should be legal, again just my opinion

Actually I kinda agree with you on the uzi and auto-simi auto statment. I should have stated that common sense control is perfectly acceptable. HOWEVER I have yet to see common sense from a politician.

It's probably not unfair to say that I'm pretty lefty about a lot of stuff. Having said that, I agree that ILLEGAL immigrants need to be sent back - there shouldn't be programs and provisions for them, especially when those programs are already stretched too thin to be of use to the people who are entitled to them.
I'm having a harder time with the guns, though. I've been musing about gun control for years now, and I'm still not sure how I feel about it.

Chili- As a southern raised boy I understand the issues with gun control, I'm not a rabid NRA member. Yes, I'm a member, becouse of their conservation efforts with hunting and fishing. ANYWAY If there was common sense in government, "control" would not be an issue. There just isn't a common ground it seems.
